Small Dark Spots on Screen

So i've owned my MacBook Pro for about 5 months or so, and it's been perfect since the day I got it. Not a single scratch on it, or anything. However, I turned it on today and i noticed it has a small black spot on the screen on the bottom left.

At first i said "It could be a few dead pixels clustered there" but the more I looked, it looks like some dirt got IN the screen. I cleaned the screen as best as I could, but It never came off, making me think that it isnt external. I then tried a couple of restarts and closely observing to see if it was dead pixels, but It seriously look like a bit of something stuck in the screen.

It was not there yesterday evening, but now it is, I don't know if Apple covers this because I don't even know what it is. Anyone had this issue before?

Hmm, doesn't seem like something you could easily fix. I would try calling applecare...sorry I don't have a quick and easy solution for you. good luck and keep us posted!

Queshy's right, it's not easily fixable. Basically, your LCD is comprised of several layers -- what you're seeing is some dirt lodged between the actual (transparent) layer containing the liquid crystals and the white, reflective screen behind it that reflects the backlight. Since there's dirt there now, its reflective properties are reduced and you see a dark (usually somewhat fuzzy) spot. Water stains can also cause this effect.

I had this on my old Inspiron... nothing I can't live with though. Also had a DS Lite that had spots on the upper screen (looked like water spots) but it was much more noticeable so I exchanged it.

Call Apple. If it's noticeable/significant I'm sure they'll exchange it.

I just did several more dead pixel tests, and no dead pixels found. It must be some dirt or something caught in there. I just don't understand how it got in there today, it's not like between last night and today I took it on a stroll to the park and dragged it in the dirt for a while. It was just sitting there on my desk all this time.

Gah, so frustrating, I bet Apple won't cover it, but I'm going to call them anyway.

Had the same issue with my new MBP. They've changed the display three days ago under warranty and the new one is 98% perfect.

Had the exact same problem on my first gen MBP. Got them to change the screen after several problem areas starting popping up.
