$399 vs $729

one camera, A13, touchID 4.7" screen, curved edges.

or a 'taller' version of SE2, all screen (minus notch and Side smaller bezels), A14, faceID, two cameras, 5.4" OLED, 5G, flat sides, two more colors.

Which are you preferring and why?

I understand this thread may not have more relevance until Friday onward when the 12 mini comes out but

people who have been holding out: have you decided?
people have an SE2, are you leaping?

Both awesome, if the mini proves to have significantly better battery life than the SE then that’s my next phone. Otherwise I’ll go SE. I do like the 12 mini display and better cameras and in a world where a 399 iPhone didn’t exist I would already have ordered the mini without hesitation. However I love a bargain and the only feature I’d be willing to pay significantly more for is more battery life.

I sold my SE 2020 for the mini. At the moment, I am using my original SE, which is really struggling battery wise with iOS 14.

In regards to the mini, I am eager to test 5G, night mode camera as well as seeing more screen real estate :). I look forward to a smaller phone. The SE 2020 was little too big for my long term liking.

Who wants a phone with a stomach and chin, and TID. Hello iP6. No masks here ever.

I think plenty users of this forum seemed more than content with tough ID.

I personally find the mini more appealing but if it comes down to budget the SE is fine.

I have an 11- great phone, but just too big.
I have a 12 mini arriving Friday, I am so excited for it.

If the pwm flicker on its display gives me eye pain or headaches, then I might consider a move to the se 2020 for the smaller size. An added bonus would be Touch ID that I do prefer to Face ID.

According to ZolloTech hands on, PWM on the mini starts at 240 and wasn’t really bad.

Though 12 mini is physically shorter not considered about taller usable screen ?

Seems a double sided thing , if you found se2020 too big

Still it’s the only other small Apple offering

Seeing how the mini is not as wide, I am hoping that that helps with more grip and will allow me to use the phone one handed more often. I have held the mini Apple leather cases I just received and while I won’t be able to make it to the very top right side with my thumb, I will be able to get most of the screen. That all may change once I have the phone in hand Friday.

The SE 2020 is a great phone but, I like the idea of a slightly smaller phone.

Happy that the Mini finally exists, but I'm gonna wait for TouchID to be implemented. It's too darn convenient especially in the current world affairs. My OG SE has the first generation of TouchID and yet it still works well.

My biggest issue with the OG SE is that the screen is too small and it's a pain to use sometimes, especially when browsing. Maybe I'll get an iPhone 8 or SE 2020 for the time being, fingers crossed the Mini next year has TouchID.

I much prefer TouchID to FaceID. I was disappointed it didn't make it onto the iPhone 12 line.

I’d go with the 11. Cheaper than the 12 mini, better battery life than the SE. :D But of course it’s bigger.

Between the SE and mini, I’d probably go with the SE, mainly to save the money for accessories. The mini feels weird after looking at it for a while. It has the flagship hardware, but the tiny battery is insufficient to support its use. If you’re a casual light user, the battery will be fine, but would you even need all the fancy hardware? Even heavy messaging use can deplete the battery of larger iPhones. The physics of battery size, unfortunately, made the otherwise intriguing mini into a questionable decision, at least from my view.

Should have put power button Touch ID 3.0 in the 12 mini to maximise the screen real estate.

I’m asking Apple guys if 12 mini screen is the same as regular 12, which I had to return due to heavy eye strain via low speed flickering (PWM)

This decision hits home for me. May wife and I both like smaller phones and are both looking to replace our 3-4 year old phones. Interesting, but we went in different directions.

My wife prefers the SE. She likes the touch ID and price.

I'm going with a mini. I like the OLED display, better battery life, smaller size and better camera and think they are worth the extra $$ since we tend to keep our phones for a long time. My biggest negative with the Mini is the square edges rather than rounded, but looks like all phones will be that way for awhile.

Is it possible to buy the Mini without the 5G mmWave cutout in the US? It's only available on the EU models?
