I feel like the same questions are being asked over and over again. What case resembles the smart case the most? Best back protector/shell? Back shell with magnets/metal strip? Thinnest/most lightweight case? Do people not use the search function?

When using my iPad Air, I use the Smart Cover as my back protection since it magnetically adheres to it. Afterwards, I throw it in a neoprene bag:apple:

Incipio Smart Feather

I am a big fan of the Incipio Smart Feather. Has a great feel (not slippery) and locks on the Smart Cover. I had a couple for my iPad 3, and now have a black one for my rMini. Just wish they had more colors like they did for the iPad 3.

I never understood the point of "locking" the smart cover on... One of the cool things about the smart cover is that you can easily take it off. By locking it on, you are effectively making it a one piece case and there are better/cheaper options if that's basically what you want.

I agree, if it's going to lock it might as well get a case with both front and back covers.
