Those that use the Apple Keyboard just wondering if you leave it on all the time even when using in portrait or if you find it a bit too heavy and remove it. Thanks

I take mine off every so often when I'm reading something that's really long and in portrait mode. Most of the time I keep it on, though. It doesn't seem that heavy once you've gotten used to it.

I usually remove it. It does feel a bit too heavy and thick in portrait mode, and I don't like pressing the keys when its flipped.

Mine is off unless I am typing or wanting to prop it up in my lap. My 12.9” with the keyboard folio is actually heavier than the old 12.9” with the original Smart Keyboard even though the iPad itself is lighter. I think the extra weight is worth it since the new keyboard design is much more stable when typing on my lap. But taking the keyboard off when using the iPad as a tablet cuts the weight by almost half. Since the case is magnetic and pops off easily, it’s a no brainer in my mind!

I leave mine attached to my 12.9 all the time as I primarily use it with the keyboard and rarely use the one for my 11 so it is off 80-90% of the time.

Sometimes...when you do take it off it’s amazing how light the iPad becomes! :)

Maybe I’m less typical. I leave my keyboard on 100% of the time, and I never use my iPad in portrait mode.

With the Smart Keyboard Folio how does everyone use it when watching Netflix and not needing the keyboard? i haven't used one but i'm considering it when i get the new iPad Pro.

I do a lot of drawing and photo editing in my spare time and i'm wondering if it's worth just getting the Folio case instead of the keyboard.

I use an adjustable aluminium stand from Taobao for my iPad. Very sturdy yet very cheap.

That looks good for a desk, i was thinking of for use around the house tho like being in the kitchen when cooking and in the bedroom. If i get the Smart Keyboard Folio does the keyboard part fold at the back or anything so i can use it standing up without the keyboard? if not i may just get the Folio case.

The keyboard part just simply fold to the back with the keys at the back due to the new design for the 2018 iPad Pros.

I leave mine on about 98% of the time. Just easier.
Easier than it being ridiculously easy to remove and put back on? I find the added weight more cumbersome to deal with in use than how insanely quick the ASK is to take off.

I am happy with my Smart Cover (without keyboard) für my 2017 12.9 IPP. It is so light compared to the new Smart Folio that I can leave it on most of the time. Without any cover the iPP feels somewhat "naked" and unprotected....

Can you use the folio keyboard for gaming? Can you drive with the WASD keys? I play grid, and I can see this as a awesome positive feature.

I’d say 50-50. I take it off when I’m reading long docs or just sitting down to browse the web or read the news. I’m trying to think of the keyboard folio like a case of the iPad. It isn’t any harder to take the keyboard off that it would be to slip the iPad out of a sleeve. And it’s SOO light without the keyboard folio.

But, sometimes I’m too lazy even to do that and so read in portrait with the keyboard just folded behind the back of the iPad.

But can it still stand up? for example if I'm in the kitchen making food and i just want to watch a TV show can i use it as a stand without the keyboard? like the folio case does.

Well I'm carrying it with me to various places so my needs change throughout the day. I may be in a meeting taking notes, then head to the gym and watch a video while I'm on the treadmill. I want to have it protected during transit so it's easier to leave it on rather than carry an extra case or risk it slipping.

I leave mine on at all times. I bought the keyboard folio for the keyboard AND the back protection. I like having the peace of mind to put it down flat on any surface and not worry about scratches or picking up grime that might help accumulate scratches when I put the folio back on.

I do get why some people might enjoy taking it off now and then though for certain use cases. One of the MAJOR benefits of the new Smart Cover and Smart Keyboard folios alike is that you don’t have to pry a plastic lip off of the side of the iPad and risk damaging or scratching something or breaking the case. They easily come off and easily go back on with no worries whatsoever.
