Smart Home & Bixby is so smart!(Note 8 & Google Home)

I love combining the power of Bixby on the Note 8 with my Google Home. I taught Bixby to talk to my Google Assistant (Custom Chat) so that I only have to talk to 1 assistant with a short command and I get multiple tasks done. So basically Bixby will tell my Google Home to turn off my bedside lamp and read me a bedtime story at night time with just a simple "Good Night" command (it works brilliantly! Google Home actually picks up Bixby extremely well! Also along with the regular Bixby stuff- turn on do not disturb etc...This is so powerful. I can imagine that I can control everything with a simple voice command. Currently, I can control lights, temperature, TV Etc.

I actually really love and prefer Bixby. Google Assistant is good too but it is great to have both and use them in tandem. I don't ever want to get rid of Bixby unless something better comes up.

This sounds interesting. Do you think it will also work with Alexa? I really like Bixby for the device things it does, and I don't like using Alexa on my phone. This might be the secret sauce.

What do you mean Alexa on your phone? Do you have an Amazon Echo? Yes, Bixby can talk to Alexa for you if you have the Echo. That is the thing Google Assistant does not string commands very well but Bixby can. So go in your Custom Chat and let Bixby do the talking. It did take me a few tries to set it up.

Step 1. For example for the custom chat:
You say: Tell Alexa to turn off lights
You write for Bixby: "Hi Alexa (Whatever saying that fire up Alexa), Turn off the lights" (Note put this in "" so Bixby say exactly)

Step 2. Perform the command by saying "Hi Bixby Tell Alexa to turn off light"

Step 3. Lastly. Then, you go in your short command:
Get it from your history and add it to one of your short commands.

From what I researched before considering the Google Home, Alexa needs to pick up "skills" so you might want to research certain skills Alexa can download and make her more powerful as well.

In your example, when you say for Bixby to "say, ...", do you mean you are having it talk. So you talk to Bixby, and then Bixby talked to Google... or is that just a figure of speech and its "telling" this by communicating behind the scenes to it? I'm not sure I'd want it talking; and the thing I don't like about Alexa is I don't want to have to start it and talk to it. Nevertheless, I will have to try it.

Have you looked into the custom chat feature before?

You have to tell bixby once so that bixby will repeat what you put on the custom chat so you CAN take that event from the history (under quick commands) to add to your specific quick commands. I would play with the features a bit. (Basically you are teaching Bixby what to say)
