Does anyone know if the delete key actually deletes emails in the mail app or does it archive them? I would hope it matches whatever setting I have the swipe on mail set to. Anyone know?

Seems to delete or archive the current selected message from the left message list pane.

I know but which one, delete or archive. Those are very different actions and I don't know which one I'm doing.

I believe that depends on the type of mail account you have. A POP account I would expect it to delete/trash the email. An IMAP account it should Archive.

Send yourself some test emails and try it out.
