I have the iPad Pro 10.5 model, with a Smart Keyboard…. Problem is sometimes it works if I mess with it for awhile, and other wise it doesn’t know it’s attached. Any simple way to make it find it always?

This might be an issue with the connecting pins being a tad dirty, check them out first.

I was watching a video on youtube about that, took a small paper clip and played with the pins and got it to connect. Using the iPad with the keyboard to type this now and so far it is working ok. Might have to get a small case for it and carry that small paper clip with, and if the keyboard wants to act stupid play with the pins and see if it cooperates again. I heard that Apple had a replacement program for them, but likely expired now, just wondering how they are handling those programs because of being closed due to covid-19?

I definitely figured out the problem with the Smart Keyboard. If it acts up, I take a small metal paper clip and pick at the middle pin of the keyboard and then it works as it should. Wondering if the spring under the pin gets stuck or something, and what could be used to maybe clean/loosen the pin up so it won’t get stuck and not connect?

I watched another YouTube video about this issue with the smart keyboards, and the person showed how he fixed his Smart Keyboard by using a soldering iron and adding a small amount of material, solder to the pins of the keyboard connector so they are all the same height, and attempted the fix this morning. After using the iPad off and on all day and transporting it to several places like coffee shops and using it, the keyboard is still working properly as it should. Looks like the issue is solved to let other readers know.
