I have the Smart Keyboard for my iPad Pro, question is, is it worth going to the Apple store and see if they will swap it out since it has the typical connection problem with the pins, almost like the springs under the pins are weak and does not always make contact. The on screen keyboard always works, just find it a pain to use it. Like I have to concentrate and actually use effort to type. I hear they had a replacement plan before Covid and actually had one on my friends iPad swapped out during the plan, but now that the stores were closed for almost a year because of being forced to by this government, wonder if they are still doing so?

You can try your luck, but from my experience, the odds that they will exchange it is pretty low unless it’s still within warranty.

That was kinda my thought, just watched a youtube video about it and how to fix it so gave it a try. It involved soldering a small amount on the little pins without melting everything…. So far it seems to work and not like loose connection, folded it up a few times and then opened it and typed garbage in the notes app just to see if it works, and typed and sent 2 emails, and typing this reply using the Smart Keyboard and so far it is working. Kinda thought I would have had to add a little more solder but so far clearly it is enough. This is a good thing, for some reason I find it easier to type on the Smart Keyboard than the on screen one.

So far it appears like it is fixed. Shame I had to buy a entire roll of solder, when only needed a couple drops. Course if it needs more at least I have it.

It now seems to be resolved, so I can consider this issue as solved, just to let other readers know.

Looks like the person that made the video knew what the issue was and the fix, almost 24 hours later, being used off and on all day yesterday and folded and unfolded several times and being folded all night while charging and no issues this morning, I’d have to say it is fixed, and works very nicely.
