I built a Smart Playlist in iTunes on my Mac to replace a previous default playlist that had been deleted (it is the Recently Added smart playlist). But when I sync to my iPhone 6s Plus, the Recently Added smart playlist on my iPhone contains a lot more songs than it should. I am seeing songs that were already added over two years ago (at least), when the smart playlist has only the following six rules:

----------

Match [all] of the following rules:

Media Kind | is | Music

Media Kind | is not | Music Video

Media Kind | is not | Movie

Media Kind | is not | TV Show

Date Added | is the last | two weeks

----------

I have tried deleting and rebuilding the smart playlist several times, and last night restored the iPhone itself (there is a lot of music, it took awhile to copy it back).

Is there a setting in iTunes on my iPhone or on my Mac that I am missing? Shouldn't iTunes on my iPhone have the same rules for smart playlists as they were set up in iTunes on my Mac?

UPDATE 3/22/16

Apple Support had me remove all iTunes music, videos, etc. for the device and then re-add it. We noticed that when the iPhone is connected that items in the Music tab / Album field were remaining checked despite being unchecked prior to sync, and items remained in the Manually Added Songs field would reappear during sync after being deleted ("Manually manage music and videos" is unchecked in the Summary tab).

She said to reset sync history for the iPhone to see if that would help. She will not be available until next Sunday, does anyone know how I can do this? There is no option in iTunes Preferences | Devices tab - Apple's support pages said there would be, but there isn't.

UPDATE 3/25/16

(Think) I found the problem...turns out when you create a smart playlist with the exact same name as one of the default ones that are included with a default installation of iTunes, the playlist defaults to those rules. Not the ones I created. And I never knew since it would show me the rules I made. Oy vey.
