I'm trying to set up a wireless home movies network for my kids, sharing a folder on an external USB drive via my MacBook Pro and WIFI.
I bought and tried to use PlayerXtreme Media Player PRO to set up a SMB connection, but it fails. I can connect fine via Browser, which allows me to copy movies over to each iPad, but I want to stream, not copy.
PlayerXtreme would be great, if it works, because unlike VLC, it creates a library of movie posters, making it easy for my young children to select the movies they want to watch.
I struggled with PlayerXtreme for a number of hours. Its FAQs and guidance is not so great. I was thinking that I had an undefined network problem, but then I tried VLC, and was able to set up a SMB connection with the exact same info I was trying to use in PlayerXtreme.
Does anyone have experience with this?
Macbook Pro: 10.13.3 Beta (17D25b)
iPads: iOS 11.2.1
