smcFanControl on new Macbook Pro (Santa Rosa)

The left side of my SR macbook pro seems to get alot hotter than the right. With SMCfancontrol It has options to control both the left and the right fans. Ideally, I would like the left fan to be turned up higher than the right fan. Unfortunatly It will not allow me to do this. For some reason, when the left fan speed is increased the right automatically follows suit. This is odd though becasue I can get the right fan to go faster than the left. Is this a problem with the software?? Anyone else with a SR macbook pro notice this issue?

Hey guys. So far loving the mac experience. USed em for years, but never actually owned one. My one complaint is the heat. My 2.4 Ghz MBP is putting out 160 deg F (69-70 deg C) even at 3000 fan RPM. Im trying 4000 RPM, but to me it seems like its running a little hotter than it should. Im not just talking warm, I'm talking cooking. The Inside of my desktops 550 Watt power supply doesn't get this hot (I've got a thermal probe in there). Ill update this if the temps go down, but can anyone share their santa rosa experience so I can decide whether I want to have mine replaced/fixed or not? Thanks

how did everyone get their cpu temp? and to control left and right fans? my SMCfancontrol only tells me the case temp and let me set the rpm of one fan
Looks like you have a regular MacBook. I have worked on a friend's laptop and they were using the newest MacBook, which had only one fan and one temp probe, so you should not worry teflon. Macbook Pros have tons of temp probes and two fans.
As with the last poster having a hot running computer, I am not sure what is "normal" for an SR MPB, but Apple has stated that the temps can go up to 100 degrees Celsius before failing. To me, your 70C is the average. A little more than warm. On my personal MBP, I run the fans on MAX (6000k). It's noisy, but hey, it works for me. Keeps me at around 102 degrees F (that is the reading on the SMC panel, but I believe it is the average of all the temp probes)

macbooks have only 1 fan while mb pro have two, at least the older MB revA had 1 fan.
Does anybody have a problem with it and the new Mb 2.16. I got one the other day and Im trying to use smcfancontrol. No matter what I set it too it falls back down to around 2.5k. If I set to like 5k it goes to there for like a second then drops back down to 2.5k. Any ideas?
