Alright, don't get me wrong, I love my Macbook, Macbook Pro, and Powerbook.....they are amazing and the design is beautiful. With that being said...I'm wondering why Apple has this revolutionary OS which Vista pretty much copies, yet have no exciting things to "spice up" the existing laptops. No, I don't mean stupid blue and red lights such as the new Dells or HPs. I just mean simple things. For instance, the new HPs have a strip that you can touch and it turns the volume up and down. Well we all know Apple could put this on a Macbook, make it look cooler and work even better. Toshiba's have shortcuts for different things built into the actual touch pad. I'm not saying go as far as that, but something just to make them even more interactive. A couple of my friends are still stuck in the Windows phase and the reason they didn't get a Mac was because they believe their laptops are "cooler" because of the little gadgets cluttering..well...everything. Apple could definitely gain a much broader market if they at least added a few, but very attractive, features to the existing enclosure design.

A laptop doesn't need a new button on it every time there is an update, it's got the correct number of buttons already, it works beautifully, and looks a lot better than most of the new computers from Dell, HP and Toshiba etc...
However the MBP does have a dated enclosure that could do with a re-design, I'll give you that...

Eh. We don't need that stuff. Look at the biometric reader that was built into the thinkpad for a while. Do they even do that anymore?
I think its the extra doo-dads that messy up clean design. I have no problem hitting the volume up/down buttons to change the volume on my mac. Plus, they've already upgraded the macbook to mag-latches and will probably do the same to the pro soon, which will get rid of a couple of "holes" in the body.
Frankly, the cleaner the better IMO. That's what makes apple apple. They're one of the few companies that pays attention to their design as a primary point of interest and I applaud them for it.

Mmmm, and if they did, some folk would argue that such a move is typical of Apple - offering overpriced style over substance.
I like the minimalist design. If anything, I'd really only like more USB ports, a magnetic latch and the removal of the plastic bezels. And those are pretty minor wants. In terms of trackpad functionality, two-finger scrolling is probably the best thing ever; most other manufacturers seem to require you use the marked 'strip' on the touchpad, and not all of them have two-finger right clicking either.
