I've had a look through the forum and can't see a thread sooo...

Anyone had this issue, it is really hit and miss whether the contact info is displayed on the home screen when I receive a text/sms. It just shows the phone number.

I then have to slide/unlock the phone to see who it is from.

It doesn't seem to matter if the international dial code is there or not in the contact. I've tried with 'dial assist' on or off so it doesn't appear to be either of those potential pitfalls.

This was never an issue prior to me installing iOS9 and 9.1 has not fixed the problem. It's been driving me mad for weeks. I'm in the UK and it is an iPhone 6.

Have you tried adding the number to your contact again via the message itself?

Add to existing contact.

No, that might work.

I'm not sure why I have to go through that process for every contact that doesn't show correctly though. What a pain. It's worked for years prior to iOS9.

Only reason I mention this, is because mine has done it once I ended up with the same numbers on my contact twice. I just deleted the first one, and used the second duplicate number.

Worked fine after

I'm getting this too since day 1 of IOS9....

when some messages arrive they just have the number in notification centre but when you open them the contact name is shown correctly at the top of the chat window.

the issue happens with both iMessage and SMS contacts but not on all my contacts, some will show correctly?

There was a post on the apple forum about it

Aye, super annoying. I've had a google and tried a few suggestions that 'may' have worked for other people. Nothing has worked for me.

Having a look on the apple forums it does look like it is a common(ish) problem but only for people in the UK.

Solution: Completely DELETE that contact from your iphone AND whatever it is syncing to (icloud, gmail, exchange, etc). Reset the phone and add the contact back.
