SMS from iMac

Hello guys, Im an new mac user and I have a problem sending sms via my iMac 10.11.04

iMessages are sending and receiving fine but simple messages to other devices than iphones never work, always fail to send or received to iMac.

Can you help me please

SMS Forwarding only works if you have a compatible iMac (late 2012 or newer) and a compatible iPhone (5 or newer) nearby to forward the messages. If you have both of these, and they are attached to your iCloud account, you should be able to set it up on the iPhone in Settings > Messages > Text Message Forwarding by adding your iMac to the list.

Yes, like red heeler mentions, don't forget to enable it also on your iPhone.

Although, sms forwarding also works on my iPhone 4s, not just the 5 and newer.

What devices do you have?
