Is this feature activated yet? Does not work for me. Just got the latest Yosemite update this morning and it still does not allow me to send a text message from my IMac to a Samsung phone using IMessage.

And it never will. The sms/call feature is only for macs <-> iphones

Edit just thought about it again:
You do have an iPhone and want to send it to an samsung phone? That should work some time but right now I'm not sure it works in iOS8

You were right the first time. I don't have an iPhone so it will not work. Apparantly the Mac just mirrors the iPhone so that you can response from the Mac if you wish rather than the iPhone but without an iPhone there is nothing to mirror and it will not work.

Yes you can send text messages to ANY phones including android phones. But you need to get iOS 8.1 beta 2 to activste that. Upgrade your iPhone to iOS 8.1 beta 2. Then go to messages on settings and activate message forwarding. It will allow you to send/receive text messages on your Mac.

Having Yosemite alone is not enough.
