SMS Messages being split

Anyone else encountering this problem? It just started today. My SMS messages under 160 characters are being split into multiple messages. When sending short messages, I'm hearing the "sent" sound twice. I just sent a friend a message, 137 characters long. It split it at 132 chars and she received 2 messages.

I just updated to iOS5.1 last week and haven't experienced this issue before today. I'm on Sprint.

Anyone else?

i am having the SAME problem. also recently upgraded ios. also on sprint. its driving everyone i text crazy. would LOVE a solution

I believe it's a Sprint issue, so you may want to call them. I've had the same thing happen a few times recently and I'm also on Sprint.

Last week, I couldn't take it any longer so I completely restored my iPhone and set it up as new. Still encountering the same exact problem. So I've decided that it's a Sprint issue and not an iOS issue.

I called Sprint and she had me do a profile update ##873283# which stopped it briefly, but it still does it randomly. Hopefully Sprint figures it out.

i talked to sprint today as well. they told me they hadn't been aware of any kind of issue like that. they suggested i turned my phone off and back on again...... i wont lie, it didn't help me at all.

.....this problem is getting real annoying real fast. i hope they figure it out or atleast acknowledge that there IS an issue.

On Verizon this week, for the first time I saw an iMessage was split when sent. It WAS in the long side, but I didn't think there was a character limit. No problems with regular SMS, so far.
