SMS Messages do not show contacts' names — just phone numbers

I recently set up MobileMe sync for contacts. I lost all contacts at one point, but they have been restored. My Messages app, however, no longer displays contact names, only phone numbers. These are people already in my Contacts app. Furthermore, if I select "Add to Contacts" at the top of an SMS thread, the problem is not resolved. Does anybody know how to resolve this problem?

For me, the fix was to sync, to itunes again, after the update.
