I may be missing something, but is there any way to suppress those SMS previews that pop up when an SMS comes through?

I dont like the fact that anyone looking at my phone can see my SMS's when they come through. I also hate that the message appears on top of whatever youre doing, like more recently, playing a game. The game doesnt stop, and you cant see what youre doing!

Why cant my SMS's just sound an alert, and get delivered in the background, like every other phone ive ever had, or iPhone's email for that matter?

Sorry not used to the 2.0 settings screen its...

Settings>General>Passcode Lock>Show SMS preview (on/off)

Unfortunately, that only works if you have passcode lock turned on.

Kinda makes sense, if you don't want people looking at your messages you probably don't want them to unlock your phone and look at it that way. If you want, you can set it to after 4 hours therefore you won't get stopped by it often, but you can keep that sms preview hidden.

To be honest, its not so much that I dont want people seeing them, I just dont want them popping up all the time. Its particularly irritating if youre browsing a web page or something and several SMS come through in the space of a few seconds.
