Hi,

All my numbers in my contacts list are in this format: 123-4567 i.e. with no area code. When I send an SMS, it wants it in this format: (123)456-7890. Is there an automatic way to change it, or do I have to manually change all my contacts?

Thanks

I think you have to change it manually.

But I'd do it in Address Book on your computer, so you can easily search for your hometown and paste it in fairly quickly.

It makes sense to use area codes anyway, because if you travel outside of your region, you have to add the area codes to dial from your phone anyway.

Unlike the POTS (Plain Old Telephone Service), which generally prevents you from using an area code to dial a local number, there is no problem doing that with a cell phone. So you should add an area code for all your numbers including the local ones.
