SMS Problems

When trying to send an SMS, sometimes my iphone 3GS 32mb switches to send the message as an MMS... which not everyone can receive.... does anyone else have this problem, and is there any easy way to resolve it? Any and all suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks

Could you by any chance be putting in a message subject?

Go to settings> Messages> Show subject field

and make sure this is turned off because with this on it automatically sends an an MMS.

OOOh... it was on!
Hopefully that will work... I knew it would be something simple, but, being a luddite in charge of modern technology, I am rather hopeless.
