iPhone SMS using data.

I have a grandfathered Verizon UDP plan that has 1000 texts. Are there any apps or tweaks that can use data for sms/mms like iMessages does?

I need to be able to text people that do not have iPhones. When in large group texts it eats up 1000 messages quickly over the course of a month.

No, sms messages are different than iMessages and you cannot bypass the carriers old sms tech on those with phones that cant receive iMessage.

The only way to do that is to have everyone using an iOS device. Other than that you can't.

Maybe you can set up a google voice number and use that for messaging?

Google Voice uses data for SMS.
