Seems like the new Snapdragon is a freaking BEAST. Apple is waaaay behind.

By then Apple would have A15. But ya, even that won’t compete with this. This is closer to A16-A17.

So you know how a chip 3 generations from now will perform?

It's funny how some people care more about numbers on a piece of paper than what a phone is actually like to use.

Wait.
In the Pixel 5 discussion, many people claimed that we don't need such flagship performance anymore, that even mid-range chips will be fine for majority of people.

But now benchmarks and flagship performance is important again? :D

I stopped caring about Snapdragon flagships. They will always be too expensive to make sense. Besides, the Samsung flagships in my country will be Exynos anyway.

to be fair the only real power thats badly needed for me is computer based with the M1 has me covered everything else is just great to have...even pixel with an old processor will do the job for most people without any issues.

if SD888 performs great then great it's good to see it developing and pushing the limits

I still expect A14/A15 to run better scores but really does it matter?

I was one of them.

I'm not saying this:

For what it's worth - I grabbed a Pixel 4a 5G (running the SD765G) and am VERY pleased with it. The "lower power" SoC still runs this phone SMOOTH, it's plenty for my uses and the battery life (because of the lower-spec SoC) is GREAT.

First benchmarks doesn’t seem as impressive as expected but will see as more come out

more excited for next exynos chip i must admit

Too much is made of benchmark scores and not enough is made of real world experience. I have had more issues with app crashes/stutters on my iPhone 12 Pro Max than I have experienced on my Pixel 5. I ran a side-by-side test, out of boredom, and the Pixel 5 and 12PM load apps at a near identical speed (sometimes Pixel first and sometimes iPhone). Based on benchmarking alone the A14 should crush the SD765G but I have had a better and more consistent experience with the SD. Admittedly the OS probably plays a role too.

Which is kind of what I was saying in the Pixel 5 thread, that was referenced above. Samsung, with DeX, can arguably make more use of the SD865 SoC because DeX turns the device into more of a computer experience where some "horsepower" is useful. On a Pixel, without DeX, that experience isn't needed and the 765G is PLENTY for most day-to-day uses of a phone.

Uhmmm
The 26 TOPS you listed for the the 888 is for the whole package. The 11 TOPS you listed for Apple is for the Neural Engine only.

Also not sure what you're thinking to conclude from comparing random numbers you find, you see TOPS on product A and TOPS on product B and seem to think that you can just compare those.

Going with your logic I can say that 888 is a bigger number than 14 so it must be better.

Also since you seem to not like numbers, this test is probably the most accurate cross-platform visual speed test that doesn't focus on numbers. (A14 vs 865+)

It SMOKES the A14 Bionic. I don't think A15 can match it also.
Regarding the new ISP also it SMOKES A14.

Meanwhile snapdragon 865 @ 15 TOPS.
What were Apple thinking when they released the 11 TOPS spec? ?

Did you post the wrong screenshot? I already explained what you got wrong about that screenshot in the post you quoted.
Can't you read that screenshot? Ai neural engine also for the snapdragon 888 and 865.

I own SD 865+. If it's 15 TFLOPS and A14 Bionic is 11 TFLOPS, all it really shows is that TFLOPS isn't the end-all-be-all of performance measurement. Those numbers don't translate to equivalent real-world performance gains or even benchmark scores since the iPhone 12 matches the SD 865+ in "app opening tests", and beats it in many benchmarks. We don't buy into sensationalism.

We also don't buy geekbench primate labs. In Power Director or Kinemaster even the 865 is way faster than iphone 12 in 4k video rendering.
Some of us also owned a14 Bionic.

Glad to hear it! I'm very happy with my 865+ and have been off of iPhone for years, mostly due to its uninteresting form-factor.

To the op, stop using landing page material (that’s all marketing). Use better data to back up your claims, otherwise it’s cringey
