Looking for advice. I saw it on the refurb Macs so I bought it with the thought of getting it now and possibly returning it within 14 days if I decided to go with the new mid level instead. It cost $759. I jumped on it because of the the dual 7200 hard drives, and I am not sure if I wanted to add a solid state drive on my own. Would any of you care to comment if I should trade it in for the newer midline model??? If I do trade it in, I probably would not be able to upgrade the hard rives for quite some time. So... Quad i7 2.0 with dual 7200 hdd, versus Quad I7 2.3 with 5400 HDD. I would be using this computer primarily for basic music production.

Thank you in advanced

In your case keeping the 2011 may be correct. the 3000 graphics is not as good as the 4000 in the new machine but you are doing music. the 2x 500gb drives are pretty quick. a new mid is 799 add a 500gb hdd and a cable is about 140 so 940 vs 759.

you saved about 170 to 190. the 2011 quad cpu will be fast enough.

well I owned one with 2x 750gb western digital scorpio black hdds it was fast and a nice machine. I sold it around dec.

The mid 2012 is better for me as i have invested in quite a few t-bolt drives. I will just slap a lacie little big disk with 2x ssd in it and away I will go. Also the 4000 graphic will look better on my tv for netflix.

Just saw these pop up! Not sure if I would rather this or the new midline

There were a bunch these this morning and an hour ago there was just one. Apple supposedly sold hundreds today. A lot of these are also not refurbished, but brand new and just the old supply.
