Don't worry i am not going to ask where/how to install the ROMs! :D

The iphone had a recent restore due to certain issues and re-jailbroken, then reinstall the applications from Cydia that was previously installed...now disappointed that the SNES emulator is now a "pay for" application when it was once free in the past.

Not that i mind paying for the SNES app but it is a matter of principal it was it once free so why do you now have to "pay" for the applications via Rock?

Is this the future for the jailbroken existing and still-to-come apps where the Cydia/Rock developers will end up going down same route as greedy apple requesting that people pay for the apps because jailbreakers are not donating??

This has happened with other apps/extensions also, LockScreen Info for one.

It was free while in Beta, now it costs $4.99 (and very worth it I will add)

As far as I am concerned, developers have every right to charge for their work product. It is your choice to buy it or pass on it.

Obviously, if they have created something you feel you need or want, the product is worth paying for.

So your position is that if its a jailbroken app it's not worth the same as an official app?
Or that is its not approved by apple its not worth the money?
Or that people should just create programs for free..? Those damn greedy developers, working hard and expecting people to buy from them?!?! its crazy.

i hope you are not greedy enough to expect a regular wage from your own profession

i didn't say that the developers were greedy...only apple! i appreciate what the developers have done for the jailbreaking world and have donated to them and i did quote that i was happy to pay for SNES!

well you said that cydia/rock developers are going down the same route as greedy apple(i'm assuming the greed route)

i'm just trying to work out why you are complaining. If you are happy to pay for good apps then why post?

simply the 'principle' of paying for something that was once free? heard of a free sample? free testing?
i think your principle is laughable, get over yourself.

i am over it...

was SNES a free sample??!! been using it regularly on the iphone for nearly 4 months (before Rock involvement!)...

wether it was designed as a free sample or not, i cannot understand the issue?!?
your principle that not having to pay for something that was once free seems ridiculous.
The fact that is was once free should surely be a benefit (and the point anyone should focus upon), especially to those people who still have the original

by no mean am i a spoilt brat...my parents are supertoffs!!

why make it free in the first place??!!

to the OP:

go find the last deb file for the snes emulator when it was still free and install it via dpkg. once you've installed it tell cydia to ignore the updates by increasing the installed version to something very high.

problem solved.

And the difference between this and piracy is?

"this" was a free beta copy that was once available for free on cydia!

is it still called "piracy" when you download a free beta version?

How could it be ? That version was free unless they have since begun charging for that specific version.

I am using an older free version of Red Laser (before they altered the results to show in "TheFind" which destroyed the usefulness of the app.) I also bought the app thru the App Store but found it to be ruined by this change and do not sync the App Store version.

I am not pirating the app, I am just using an older free version from when it was available thru Cydia..
