Hey guys, a friend of mine has reason to believe text messages that are sent to her phone are also going to another phone on her family plan.

is this possible? when i examined her phone i did not see any indication that the phone has been jailbroken. I did not see cydia. The phone does not lag, it is a 3G. She also made mention that she had seen an 'alert' on the phone that it was being tracked (located). she couldnt describe it exactly but mentioned the alert was red? and it just 'popped up'

I'll have more time with the phone tomorrow and will likely just reinstall 3.0.1 on it to make sure its a clean slate.

My hunch....I have doubts about the text messages being forwarded, as far as i knew it is not possible, and my suspicion with the tracking message im chalking up to MobileMe find my phone being activated...

thoughts?

Maybe have her give ATT a call and ask them wtf is going on. All I can tell you is Boeing 737 is my favorite aircraft =D.

yes the 737 rocks ;)

calling att is a good idea, we'll do that tomorrow but im not sure they'll be of much help. probably just advise her its not possible. they seem to have a hard enough time assisting with normally functioning phones to begin with.

It sounds like its a flash sms.

I used to play this wee joke on my workmate by telling him his phone was being tracked and that all his contacts had been uploaded to a remote server - he used to come to me and ask what the messages were about and I struggled to keep a straight face.....however !!

You can read about it all here...its nothing to worry about.

With 02 in the uk we can log onto a online service which shows us all texts that come in, so we know who they are from.

brulafu, can you try it again now to see if that still works?

I've tried with the *go code and it's not displaying any differently.

I wonder if o2 has changed the code.
