Hello,

I just bought a 2.3 i7 a few days ago. I originally hooked up hdmi-hdmi, but was nearly blinded by the colors despite my calibration attempts. Then i went MDP-HDMI, and though the colors are better (still off compared to other Macs on same display), it is usable.

However, once or twice a day, i get this really quick flicker (1ms or so) and a row of snow about 2 inches tall that stretches across the whole screen on the bottom 1/4th of the display. My computing isn't really interrupted, but i'm not pleased my brand new computer is doing that. Hell my 2010 13in MBP drives the same display with zero issues.

I've ensured I have all current software up to date from Apple.

I've been scouring these forums and other resources and it looks like the HDMI-HDMI color issues *may* be sorted in 10.8.3, but i'm concerned about the snow/flicker issue.

I have about 10 days left in the return policy, so I'd like to decide before then if I want to keep it. I do REALLY love the machine so I don't want to give it back.

It's not a huge issue at all, but I guess I've just never had to compromise on quality from a new Apple product before.

TL;DR: HDMI color sucks but i hear a fix is coming, and MDP-HDMI gives a seemingly random flicker/snow issue. The snow/flicker worries me b/c i'm not sure if other people are seeing this or if i should return the unit.

Thanks and have a good day.

There do seem to be issues using HDMI on the Mini, with some monitors. If your monitor has a DVI or MDP port, try that instead.

However, I would suggest that the problems you describe are not "standard" and represent a defective unit. Take it back and get a replacement.

If it is defective, you should have at least 1 year's warrantee, depending on where you live.
