Both my Macs are using Snow Leopard and are connecting via Airport to a BT Home hub.

Until this morning both were working fine with no issues. This morning however both Macs are unable to receive an IP address from the Home hubs DHCP.

I also have a Windows PC, xbox360, Ps3 and an iphone using the same network and settings and these all work fine.

Both Macs will work if plugged into the home hub via Ethernet.

I have rebooted both computers and have reset the home hub with no luck?

Please help me.

Thanks

Reset location

The frist thing you want to do is reset your location.

Go to System preferences, network, then in the top select location and then edit locations.

Use the + to add a new location.

Now that you have a new location try to connect to your internet with the new location.

If that does not work completely reset your networking connections by going to:

HD/library/preferences/

Pull the SystemConfiguration folder to the trash (DO NOT EMPTY TRASH)

Restart your computer.

When you log back in ALL of your network and bluetooth connections will be reset. Try to reconnect to your network.

If that does not work you can put your SystemConfiguration folder back since it was not the problem. Then restart your computer.

If none of those worked try to contact the router manufacturer.

Snow Leopard & BT Home Hub problems

Same weird internet problems here.

I have just got BT to replace the original HomeHub because we were all convinced the hub was broken! New Hub, same issue!

Problem started on MacBook connecting via wifi following Snow Leopard install.
Other Mac (Mac Mini, also Snow Leopard) is connected via Ethernet - no problems.

Symptoms:
For first half hour, all web sites working fine.
Later on, pages refuse to load, "Safari can’t connect to the server." Hitting "refresh" about 10 times does force the page to be displayed.

Unable to connect to Home Hub server pages. Multiple refreshes will load the page, but pages don't render fully.

Have compared TCP/IP settings - same on both Macs.
Have created a new location.

Replaced HomeHub with Netgear router - works fine!!

Got to be a Snow Leopard & BT Home Hub compatibility issue I guess?.

I know it's very late for this....

and this post is quite old, but I wanted to post a response for anyone else this may happen to.

I don't know if this was your same issue, but I thought I would offer up my own experiences. I had 2 Windows PCs at home, an iPhone and an Xbox 360. Only the 360 was using a wired connection. The other three were on my wireless. I had no issues. My in-laws came to town. During their visit, my FIL bought an iPod touch and a laptop. One night, all of the devices were on and connected to the internet and my wife's laptop would no longer connect to the internet.

It was a simple and stupid fix, but I should have realized it. In the router, I had only allowed for DHCP to 5 devices. At this point, there were 7 devices (3 laptops, an Xbox, a desktop, an iPhone and an iPod Touch...talk about electronic overload) on my network and it quit giving out IPs and kept the devices from connecting. So, if you see this again on the BT, check the allowed devices. I don't recall the exact wording on my Linksys, but I would imagine all devices have this feature especially for wireless to protect security.
