I put snow leopard on my mac this afternoon and have been kicking the tires. I ran Parallels 4.0 and the windows worked just fine with my XP Partition. When I tried to boot it up in boot camp however, I got an error telling me it couldn't load windows.

I imagine this is an issue with the drivers, but I can't figure out where the drivers are and how to get them on the windows side.

When I open windows in parallels, I can't find any drivers to load on the DVD for snow leopard's boot camp.

Any advice?

Thanks
Lauren

Have you tried booting Windows into safemode? Surely there must be more to the error than simply saying that Windows couldn't load. Was there an 8 digit error code such as 0x00000027?

When I open windows in parallels, I can't find any drivers to load on the DVD for snow leopard's boot camp.

That's because Parallels uses virtual devices to simulate actual hardware, it does not mimic the exact hardware setup that Windows sees when loading in to bootcamp. Most likely none of the drivers on your SL disc will apply to the virtual devices in Parallels.

It does get me to the screen offering to boot up in safe mode, but the screen is really blurry. When I boot into safe mode it just hangs indefinitely.

All of the advice is to "load up into boot camp windows to install the drivers, but I cant get there" I don't see the 8 digit code for the hang-up.

I had this same problem. Well, not after installing 10.6 per se, but after installing the bootcamp 3.0 files from the snow leopard CD. I had the option of asking windows to roll back to the "Last known configuration that worked," so xp is running again, but I'd like to figure out how to get it going with the updated files!

At what point during the safemode boot does it hang? Do you see the list of drivers and services being started during the safemode boot? If so, which file name does it stop on?

You can always attempt a repair install of Windows. Boot off the XP CD and go through the setup like you're going to install XP. Windows setup will scan the hard disk to search for existing Windows installs. When it finds your existing XP install it will ask if you want to repair it or install a new copy. Picking the repair option simply installs the OS on top of itself, all files and programs installed will remain intact. The repair install will most likely fix your problem unless it's a real show stopping error.
