I've always wanted to get SL running on my 2008 Mac Pro, however I have an Nvidia GTX680 inside and that seems to cause a kernel panic.
Is running SL this way simply impossible, or is there a way I can make it ignore the GPU and just boot without graphics acceleration?
Thanks for any help!

Boot in Safe Mode by holding [Shift] after powering on, then delete the following files:
/System/Library/Extensions/GeForce.kext /System/Library/Extensions/NVDA(anything).kext

I didn't need to delete anything with my EVGA GeForce GTX 680 Mac Edition in a MacPro3,1. Do you have the latest update (10.6.8)?

For Mac OS X 10.5.8, I just moved NVDAResman.kext to a folder named "Leopard 10.5.8 Extensions disabled because it doesn't work with EVGA GeForce GTX 680 Mac Edition". I did the same for Mac OS X 10.4.11.

Sorry I'm replying only now, I just bothered to check my account. I thought I'd receive Email notifications up on reply but I guess not lol.
I'm not sure. I got that CMP from my uncle in late 2020, the card came with it. A few anomalies with it is that it doesn't boot without a display, for example. I'm blind and so I don't need a display, but every single time I tried booting without one I would just hear the chime then nothing would happen.
I only tried the installer disk, I have a DVD I burned my self, but I was doing all these experiments like 2 years ago so I'm not sure if I tried the DVD. I'm sure I tried booting 10.6.3 from a flash drive though, and with some sighted help I figured out the thing just kernel panics.
After booting back in to Catalina, Mac OS gave me the logs and so I was able to read them accessibly. I saw a bunch of NVDA related errors so I immediately suspected the graphics card.
Also, another weird issue with that GPU is that on certain configurations, the display simply won't show anything. As an example, when using Catalina with Dosdude's patcher, my setup with a DVI to VGA adapter didn't display anything where as with HDMI it worked fine. I had the same problem with Opencore.
