Hi All:
This is my first time ever posting to Mac forum, although I've had this computer for six years, although the motherboard was replaced four years ago through Apple Care for a weird speaker jack.

Now I've updated to Yosemite, it loads a lot slower. Also, I can't make CD's but I can play and read them. A couple days ago, my laptop totally died and magically resurrected three days. Dead for at least two. I don't know if I got a surge in my outlet or what, but it died and did not come on no matter what I tried. Then it just starts up like nothing happened. Any ideas? How can I fix my cd so it will write? I also had strange problems with Java and I think I lost my old version of Photoshop, but no big deal.

A system old enough to run SL likely would benefit from more RAM, SSD and a clean install. An upgrade in place is pretty much a show stopper. And anything from the past should be left behind (3rd party utility, apps, things not compatible or that relies on Rosetta for PowerPC).

But the post leaves me guessing, too vague as to hardware.
