Snow Leopard Server licence on Mac Mini

Just wondering if anyone has got a mac mini server weither the OSX SLS Licence is unique to the mac mini, or should i whish at a later date, move it to an xserve and put client on the mini ?

I just wondered if apple had shipped a "full SLS install" disk or a restore disk?

An Xserve comes with an unlimited client licensed version of Snow Leopard Server anyway so it seems to be a non-issue.

I meant can i use the Mac Mini's SLS Disk and install it on a macpro/xserve in the future and revert the mac mini to client.

Meaning, if you bought an Xserve that came with and older OS? I have the mimi server and as far as I can tell the version/license isn't unique to the machine, so I would think you would be fine to install it on on anything that meets the system requirements.

Right. What I was trying to say is probably yes. It doesn't seem unique to that machine.

I was trying to address the other poster's comments about how Xserves comes with server already so there would be no need to move it from mini to Xserve. But, if you got a used Xserve that didn't come with SLS, you could move it over. Or if you bought a Pro, that of course wouldn't come with server and you could move it over.

Mac Mini Server software

I have the MM server and am using it as a HTPC attached via HDMI to HD TV. The software is the full unlimited license user version. It absolutely appears to be a full and unrestricted version of SLS.

I am possibly planning using a Family pack version of SL client and doing a clean install using MBAir DVD drive and then virtualizing the SLS, Ubuntu, Windoze XP3, and Win7. So far the SLS version with the addition of iLife 09 works well and I have used VirtualBox without problems.

I see no problems installing the SLS version on another Mac. The only thing I see in the EULA is that it must be installed on a Mac. I had thought about installing it on a ReadyNAS Pro using VirtualBox which I think can be done but I do not think is OK via EULA.

The Snow Leopard Server disk included with the Mac Mini Server is restricted to install only on that model mini.
