Snow Leopard won't do full 64 bits on 2009 Mac Mini :(

Anyone else with the GM of Snow Leopard?

Have you tried the arch=x86_64 modification to the com.apple.boot.plist ?

When I use arch=x86_64, I get 100% true 64 bits on my Macbook Pro and my iMac, but my 2009 Mac Mini is stuck in 32 bits.

Anyone else notice this?

There's another thread on this. Honestly, I think people are worrying for nothing. Just use the computer and move on. It's not like it is going to make your machine twice as fast.

Nobody truly knows what the GM build is until it's released.

It does look like they reserved 64 bit for the Pro machines though.

Again, you won't really know until the final release gets here and Apple starts answering all the questions that everyone is going to have. I would fully expect the Press to grill Apple over a bunch of things. 32 vs. 64 bit support will probably be pretty high on that list.

That said, 32 bit is still faster. I don't know of anything that mini would really take advantage of in 64 bit land.

There's a lot of debate and anger over nothing worthwhile.

I'm not too concerned.. the Mini 2009 that I have I only use for Plex, streaming HDTV to the bedroom. 32 bits it runs fine, and that's *all* I use it for, so ..

I am going to be really pissed if my mid-'07 mini can't go 64-bit.

Why would u want to it's not as if you can exceed 4gb due to hardware limitations and appart from that there us next to no difference between the two????

If you bought it before August 07, there is no chance it can use 64-bit.

I bought it in March '08.

Of course if it can't go 64-bit, that's more incentive to save for an iMac.
