So, people here was thinking that the next big imac (the replacer for the 27"), will have the design and features from the Apple Display
Now we now , this will not gonna happen now

Just like the old Thunderbolt Display was the same display in the pre-5K iMacs, I was thinking that the new Apple display would be a preview of the next iMac Display. Obviously that's not happening now, and I wonder how long Apple will stick with the current 5K display?

Great minds think alike:)! I think it means we might be waiting awhile longer for a refresh of the 5K display.

hahaha, NICE TOPICS :D:D:D
Maybe the mod will merge these 2
No, i still think the 5k imac could see an redesign in 2020...but Apple will not give the normal imac, the 32" display treatment when the DISPLAY alone is starting from 5000$...so an normal imac starting price 5499$ ?? Not a chance...maybe the imac PRo ?!
But its clear the 27" imac will stay at 5k

All hopes? So, you have your credit card ready to buy and this means no new iMac for you?

Oh please...

Funniest topic heading I've seen in quite awhile.

A 6K display at 32" shouldn't look much different than a 5K display at 27". There's a reason that the new 24" Ultrafine monitor is still 4K. Of course, there are all these new features announced for the 6K and the pro users it's designed for.

Exactly how many iMac users will want those and will be willing to pay the price ... hmmmmm?????

I can see many of those new features incorporated into an iMac Pro refresh while keeping the resolution at 5K.

The new XDR Pro display comes out this autumn. I suspect some of it's tech will filter down to a new iMac by the end of 2020.

Still way to go...from 5000$, how much to filter down? to have an starting point at minim 2000$ ? I dont think Apple wants to sell you an normal imac starting from 3000$
I think this Display if it had the current cpu dGPu ram etc from the imac, would cost around 6000$, so how much to filter down to have an starting point of 2000$?
The ideea that the next imac will be the same as the new display but with an i5/i7 cpu/dgpu inside is lost
We will get an 5k imac next year, maybe with the same bezels as this new display

Maybe just HDR in a new chassis iMac?!

I think the next step for the iMac is 32", slim bezels, and 6k.

It's possible that the same panel could be used, but with a more conventional back-light, etc.

So they will probably just chop the corners off the existing screens and reduce the bezels when they redesign?

For me it means I could attach a 6k monitor to my existing iMac, if I could afford it, which I can't.

Not going to trickle down lol.

Consider the passive heat management and the price tag.

That seems likely -a 27 in 5K iMac with slimmer bezels.

I can't remember if they ever refreshed iMac's yearly. If they did then you could see that in early 2020 - unless they are stuck with inventory of the old screens. If not then 2021.
