So, unfortunately I'm unable to use my AirPods when simultaneously doing anything else of significance. The problem for me is my external keyboard which starts to slow down to a crawl as soon as my AirPods Is connected. This makes it simply impossible to use them while using Zoom at home or while gaming. Connecting with usb is not an option.

At some level I think this is absolutely unacceptable, Apples main selling point is the seamless integration between their own devices. Not being able to use my AirPods with my MacBook Air with an external bluetooth keyboard is very annoying when most of my work is via Zoom, I shouldn't have to use wired connections for something so seemingly simple that should just work.

If anybody sits on a solution I would be happy, or any news of possible progress.

No, its a Logitech keyboard. Right, but why? The keyboard works fine with literally every other device then my M1 Mac. I don't think there is any hardware fault in the keyboard itself, and this seems like a common issue. Unfortunately, based on other reports, the same problem seems to be present with apples keyboard aswell.

I don't like the idea of blaming the keyboard nevertheless, the M1 should work just fine with generic bluetooth devices.

It’s the keyboard that is not working...

If you had the Mac and airpods for a while with no issues, and then subsequently bought the keyboard I think you would be blaming (and returning) the keyboard.

How old is the keyboard? What model?

Was the keyboard sold before the M1 Macs came out? If so, they didn’t test it (or sell it as compatbile) with an M1 Mac.

Nah, the keyboard is not working when using AirPods specifically. My MK850 works fine with my MacBook Pro 2017 and Air from 2015. It's standard bluetooth protocols so it shouldn't matter. The bluetooth issues is well documented regardless.

I have original Air Pods that I use with my M1 Mini Apple Magic Keyboard Apple Magic Trackpad everything works great together. I even use the the AirPods as a output for Logic Pro and use the keyboard for start stop playback etc.
My Mini is a mid or late February 2021 build. 16/1TB.

Have Logitech issued new drivers for ARM and the M1?

The MK850 came out four years ago and is Bluetooth4. I wonder if bluetooth4 is the issue.

Or are you using the 2.4Ghz wireless connection with unifying receiver? This is not bluetooth. Maybe that is conflicting, or not compatible. Maybe the unifying receiver software is running badly under Rosetta2? Logitech likely need to update their software?

Make sure you unpair from all other devices - i.e. don’t have it paired with your old Macs and the new M1 Mac.

It shouldn't since it back-compatible and standard protocols. I reeaaly don't want to use the apple keyboard since I find it quite uncomfortable in comparison to my current one.

And I only use bluetooth, not the unifying receiver. It's also unpaired with my other devices.

Also, I want to clarify - the AirPods work fine when just browsing. I haven't been able to pin down exactly when slowdowns occur. So far it's when using Geforce now and Zoom.

I'm using my Airpods and an MX Keys for Mac keyboard simultaneously, and I've had no problems with either device. Then again, I haven't really had any bluetooth issues since getting this Mac...

The only Bluetooth problem I've had thus far is with janky movement with most newer Logitech mice. Whatever BT chipset they use, it doesn't play well with macOS.

I have a Microsoft mouse that's 10x smoother that the mess the Logitech's are, but has a microstutter every ~10 seconds.

No such sloppiness or stuttering with the Magic Mouse (2) or the Magic Trackpad (2). So I think it's down to the BT chipset used.
