I bought an Apple TV today solely for mirroring as my tv already has netflix built in.

I have 55inch sony led. No matter what settings i try i get boarders on all sides.

Any 1080p material i play lags.

Also there seems to be a bug, sometimes when i have mirroring turned on, anywhere i click it clicks to the right of it, hard to explain. Say i click a icon on my desktop, it actually acts like i clicked on the icon 3 to the right of it.

I really hope you get true full screen soon.

Something doesn't sound right. We just mirrored from an iPad2 (Project Runway) a couple nights ago and it filled the screen and looked pretty good (considering it was not HD). What are you mirroring from?

A late 2011 MBP i7.

Its fine for 720p not 1080 though. Also i closed all other apps. I searched online and saw many others had issues with getting it to display without borders.

I got a 60ins and mirroring works just fine with HD content, it is something on your setup or settings.

When i go to settings i only have have the folliwing options, best for airplay, scaled, best for built in. I tried all the options.

Maybe its different with different tvs?

Are you using a pre-release Mountain Lion build to do the Airplay Mirroring?

How are you mirroring from an MBP? Preview copy of Mountain Lion or 3rd party App?

When people talk about Mirroring with ATV, It is usually from an iOS device.

You might possibly do better with 1080P if you use a wired network connection on at least one end of the connection

Yes i am using 10.8 GM build.

That means you're a developer and a beta tester for Apple. Therefore, you should report this bug through the developer channels to Apple. Hopefully they can reproduce your bug and have it fixed, if not in the first release, in the first point release afterwards.

Duhhh, i cant believe as a developer i forgot to do that, cheers for that.

You should go on the 10.8 forum and make sure everyone is a developer. Just to be sure.

So, you're coming on here looking for (free) support for using beta prerelease software (which it seems very much like you're not actually entitled to use) but you're getting snarky when someone tells you to report what is pretty clearly a bug through the proper channels? Maybe you should reconsider your approach...

Well, why bother have a 10.8 forum before it is released? since everyone on there is a developer (cough, bs) and should be reporting the bug to apple instead of posting on here right?

Lets just leave it, i hate useless remarks and you sir and your pal have made some, so save your time i wont be reading these forums any more.

If you aren't already using a current release Airport Extreme for your home wireless that would be my first step. If that doesn't work both the MBP and the ATV have the ability to use ethernet which is how I intend to mirror for the very reason you state here. Only so many 1s and 0s can make it through the air.

I will give it a go with a ethernet cable and report back soon, thanks for the help.

How mature. Not running anywhere, feel free to pm me any time and next time it might be better to do than waste space on here. If you do not having HELPFUL to say, then shhh.

Again what is the point of having a 10.8 forum if your just going to tell people they are devs and should be reporting to apple?

Anyway there plenty of people who just want to argue without contributing anything of any actual use like you.

Thank you for the person who gave an actual useful suggestion. Was nice getting a useful answer after going through the useless responses.

Since i wanted it for mirroring and the material that is 1080p is laggy i will just get a minidisplay to hdmi cable.

Your TV may not be 1080p. I had similar issues when displaying content on my old 720p LCD TV.
