So I'm already in the deep end in Band collecting.. but I've gone and bought a mint Series 2, White Ceramic EDITION impulsively last night. I figure it would be cool to switch it up with these limited EDITION watches. I'm already on the hunt for a Gray Ceramic Series 3.

Don't tell my wife

edit: Sorry, this may be better suited for the main Apple Watch forum

I really can't see the Apple Watch becoming a collectors item. The value for your money is just not there. It's not an iconic device. Actually anything post Steve Jobs will most likely retain a collectors value similar to beanie babies. I do own an Apple Watch, but I wouldn't regret getting rid of it when the time comes to upgrade. I think the true collectibles will be the bands. They are ridiculously expensive and can still sell for top dollar used. As long as Apple keeps them unchanged it's safe to say they could potentially be a worthy investment.

I have a S1 silver aluminum, S2 silver SS, S3 space gray aluminum and a S4 silver aluminum. Currently I have no plans on buying the S5. Holding off to see the options in the S6.

I use the S1 for vacations, my husband took over my S2 and I switch up using the S3/S4 for every day use.

I've only ever really owned the SS models. I had an S0 all the way up to the S4. Once the S4 came out I became an Apple Watch hobbyist buying more bands than ever to buying each new watch year to year (Selling the old one) I got an S5 EDITION SB Titanium and I'm debating selling it to get an S6. I may keep it and collect the EDITION watches.

I have no interest in Hermes models - I've been on the hunt for a Gray Ceramic S3 but they're selling for around $500+ yikes

Houston, I have a problem.. well not really. It’s beautiful! I am going to need the S3 Gray ceramic for sure. I love the feel and shine of this material! I hope Apple releases the S6 in Ceramic.. a new color perhaps andi’m sold

worth the $209 I paid on eBay. It’s like new.

The seller I know has them regularly. I actually had an order and then second thoughts and cancelled. Glad he added another. Worth it! Pm me for the seller. He has Hermès models as well in the same ballpark (assuming seller is a he)

performance of the S2 is more than tolerable and on current version watch os

I've kept my eye out since you said you'd got that. I'm slightly tempted to go ceramic S6 if that's an option rather than Hermes, which was my plan. Assuming the S6 is enough of an improvement to tempt me not to stick with my 2 S5s. That would also mean I wouldn't sell an S5 so I could have black, white and silver, so it's an even more expensive option.

You already know you’re going to get it. Apple’s website is designed to make your money disappear.

also, 2 S5? wow.

They don’t actually sell Edition or Hermes where I live, which adds a whole extra layer of inertia to overcome to get one.

I’ll wait to see about the S6. I see no need to upgrade my ‘18 iPad Pro, and I didn’t go XS after the iPhone X, so Apple’s website isn’t 100% successful with me.

2 S5’s indeed. And both are SS. Half the people on here think buying an SS Watch is the very definition of insanity, and I bought 2 of them. And a Hermes as a birthday gift for my wife.

So it took, what? 6 weeks? I just caved and got a s3 gray ceramic for 3 bills. I guess I should resell the band to recoup funds...I already have a $17 gray band mint. My justification is that covid has rendered my aluminum watch useless without the sports I used it for pre-covid. Plus I can wear my leather loops on more than just SS now...

Well. this was short lived for me. I decided having more than one watch was kind of useless. lol I loved the white ceramic and may buy the S6 in ceramic.

I made about $100 selling it off on reddit.

It's not practical, but a LOT of people collect watches. I'm keeping my day 1 Space Grey Sport from 2015 forever, even if i don't wear it often.

I've never been a jewelry girl and have only ever worn watches on a daily basis. They are my only accessory. Before my first AW I've rotated between different mechanical watches which were way more expensive than AWes. That's why I own a silver SS 6 and a gold SS 5 AW with different bands to choose from. I plan on buying a black one next for the complete blacked-out look. I like the fact that I can combine the look with the practicality. Which is also why I'd rather spend money on a few extras in my car rather than on something that is "just" pretty, like jewelry for example. I love good looking things only when they also serve a purpose.
