So far, so good with DP5. Installed this morning via upgrade (no clean install). So far all of continuity features appear to be working except for iPhone cellular calls as i haven't received any phone calls just yet. As soon as i do, ill report back with the results.

Heres a list of things that are working that weren't working last build.

SMS via iMessage

Instant hotspot (both of my iPhones show in the wifi section as ready to go)
iphone cellular calls (couldn't even check the box in FaceTime pref last build)

Sharing webpages via the safari share button and iMessage (used to crash safari in previous builds)

The SMS thing doesn't seem to work if you don't have an iOS 8 phone attached to it. For me, it tries to send it and at about 80% complete, it fails. I also don't seem to be able to get iMessages any more.

This is true. Sometime i forget about this very important detail. Both of my phones have always had iOS 8 since beta 1.

Continuity IS an iOS 8 feature after all, not sure why this should be surprising.

It needs to gracefully fail (i.e. not be available at all) if there’s no iOS8 device nearby of course.

Oh, I wasn't even talking about Continuity... more the transitioning of the SMS to iMessage, and falling back, etc.

I agree it needs to fail gracefully, and it doesn't seem to be doing so right now. I was able to communicate via iMessage in the PB1, but since DP5 it seems to only want to SMS, or nothing; and without an iOS 8 phone, it just fails at everything. I'm sure it'll get fixed, but this was just such a huge hole that I'm surprised it was launched even as a thing for us to test in that state.

My iMessage is actually working fine now in regards to sending SMS and iMessage. You should really try doing a clean install, a re-install or maybe a few reboots.

In all honestly it took me 3 reboots to start running smoothly. You should really try. You never know with these betas.

Haha, such a weird way to "fix" a problem. I'll give it a shot later today though.

My iMessage works in DP5 for new messages I send from it via my iCloud account but I don't see any of the messages that are already on my iPhone 5 running iOS7. I was pretty sure I saw them in iMessage when running the Public Beta.

I actually find DP5 less solid that DP4. Safari seems to stutter a lot more in DP5 and I also came across some bugs waking the computer (late 2013 rMBP13) from sleep where the trackpad and keyboard wouldn't respond. Yet I managed to force shut down pressing the power button.

Pages also keeps shutting itself down randomly.

I've experience the same problem as well. But its rare. Since release its happened twice under heavy usage. I have the same macbook as you. All of the continuity features are working for me flawlessly. Compared to just handoff working for me (sometimes) last build.

Also i couldn't send messages from the notification center last build without safari crashing. This build i can.
