First hello to you all. I have been a lurker on these forums till now. I am a long time pc/windows user and never really touched a mac but i was recently looking for a new laptop and just decided after weeks of researching all the issues people seem to have with the new 15" mbp screens i decided to take the risk and go ahead and get my first mac.

I am happy to report that my 15" 2.4 macbook pro does not seem to have any of the user report issues at the moment. during initial reinstall of OS X i did notice some waves in the screens but after doing the updates it has went away and i have not seen it since. I have no noticed yellow discolorations, no dead pixels either. It seems i may have gotten lucky or either most of the issues are due to online orders as i grabbed mine from the local apple store. So far so good though for me, i am happy just trying to learn the new os now.

I'm very happy that you received a perfect mbp! I thought mine was perfect but I'm having some issues that i'm not sure coincide with being "within spec". It's because I'm so paranoid after reading all of these macbook pro horror stories!

in a dead silent room, how quiet is your MBP?

Right now on battery power i barely hear anything. I only slightly hear the fans running which should be expected since i'm only browsing at the moment.

ok I think we're in the same boat for that. when you boot up photobooth, do you see a green screen first (briefly, for a split second). I do, and my iMac doesn't do that.

Hmmm..TS have u try going online without ur charger on? try it to see whether it has any KP.

Hmm ive been online with and without my charger with no problems whatsoever. I can just imagine how much it would suck to pull out your plug and get a big fat KP...arggg

anyhoo, we both have 2 weeks. As it is now I will most likely keep. If it acts up one little bit it's going straight back. this machine was too expensive to be defective!
