Well guys, another "newbie" here that has very little knowledge of this "theme" and "icon" business.

I want my iphone to have several themes in which I can change from. I have the Iphone 4s running 5.1.2 and I have tried downloading winterboard and some themes, but what ends up happening every...single...time.. is either 1) nothing, 2) only the background changes, or 3) some icons change and others don't.

I am at my wits end on trying to make this work, and at this point, I just wish I could BUY some themes if they would work, but ... sadly, I doubt they would, even if I purchased them. SO I am coming to you guys... for some help.

I have searched youtube on an explanation of how themes and icons work, etc but no luck. There are many that I like, and after viewing some of what you guys have, .. man.. just want some cool themes and icons.. so can someone help me figure this out?

i guess you mean you have 5.1.1 instead of..2

Have you enabled the themes in winterboard?
Do you respring or reboot after you enabled a theme?

make sure you are selecting uptodate themes, some are for earlier ios version

Yes, I respring and I am using 5.1.1.. just got the phone a week ago.. I see people on here sharing backgrounds, etc.. is that what I need to do? or does backgrounds, icons, lock screens, ... etc.. does everything come in a "theme" or must I get things separate? I have no clue how to even begin changing file names.. and such.. or why that would be needed... I'm completely lost on all of this, but I would love so nice clean, fresh themes..

2 of my favourite themes right now that I'm sure work on 5.1.1 are Flite and ayecon which are both available in Cydia.

Some themes include a UI, lockscreen, icons, chatkit etc and some are just icons and you also have just lockscreen themes. With any theme you can modify whatever you want provided you know how. A lot of people here mix and match different parts of different themes to get their device to look the way they want it to. You can do that too but you'll have to learn how to do it.

If you really want to I'm willing to teach you how to. You'll need iFile which is the easiest way of doing things in my opinion. I must warn you though, once you start, you'll be spending a lot of time theming your device :p

Oh and next time please pick a better name for a thread. Something that will actually give people an idea of what the thread is about :p

allot of themes have not been updated to support 5.1.1 they were abandoned previously. Apple tends to change things up with new firmmware updates so unless the dev updates it they won't work.. I wish we had a sticky for that since we get that at least once or twice a week.

Boss iOS is a paid theme, but I know for a fact it works on 5.1.1. See thread in this sub forum for jailbroken screens. IMO the nicest theme out there right now.

I think you SO much for helping. I finally did get ahold of ifile and have been messing around (safety!) I thought it may be too confusing but thanks to youtube and this forum, I was able to actually get a theme to work.. almost.. 99% anyway..

There are 3 "themes" (I think this is what they are called.. please correct me if they are only LS's) I have attached pics of these.. and would LOVE LOVE LOVE to find a way to get these.. or buy these.. either way.. simply amazing to me.

I also have ifunbox which is pretty cool too - used it once, pretty simple and to the point.. so I am learning.. just need someone by my side ;)

What do you think about these pics attached? where can I get the files needed?

At first glance I don't recognise any of them sorry. You'll have to post the screenshots in the "Post your Jailbroken Home Screen (Part 4)" and ask people what the themes are. Except for the last one it says what it is so you'll have to buy the Metius theme.

If you need any help just ask. And please don't do anything in iFile if you're not sure about it! I usually just edit png files so I'm fine.

ok thanks. I will do that now. Yes, I am only messing with the png files too! too nervous to mess with anything else. I looked up the Metius theme on cydia and the screen shots are nothing like that lock screen.. so not sure what that means..

Ok I'm going out now but when I'm back I'll have a look at it. Like I said, people mix and match themes so maybe that screenshot is a combination of several lockscreen theme elements. Also don't let the wallpaper mislead you :p
