With the Mini and Max coming in mid November that's almost 8 weeks later than the release date of the iPhone 11 (September 20th, 2019).

Does Apple go back to a September release for 2021?

Yes I think they will, longer lead time up to Christmas and sales.
I feel the same way.

This honestly influences me on whether to get the 12 Pro Max. I have an 11 Pro Max and might stick with it for another 10 months.

Yes covid affected the release date. Why announce a new product in September when you can't buy it till late October/November when the factories shut down in china for close to two-three months. For sure they'll continue with the September tradition unless something else happens in this world (praying to God that doesn't happen).

I was thinking that this might be more about the whole 'S' cycle of iPhones and how it fits in or doesn't fit into it all at this point and going forward.
