- 16" MBP w/ i7, 32gb RAM, 8gb 5500M, and 2TB SSD. Also AppleCare

- Mac Mini w/ i7, 32gb RAM, 1TB SSD

Bought the keyboard, mouse, and some Air Pods.

Future purchases will likely be that LG monitor they sell and maybe an eGPU thing for the Mini. A new iMac with an ARM processor might be interesting as well.

~$6800 total. I think it will serve me well and apple hardware tends to have really good resellability too.

As a college graduate that did 2 years in a Dorm just lock down any expense thing in your room! On my floor the first year I had my sneakers stolen during a party (orange with black strips with green soles, indoor soccer shoes) and a guy on floor got his quadraphonic stereo stone that same night! So lock things down when in school, especially during parties!

As someone with many Macs, I'll never knock someone buying multiple Macs, but I'm curious: The 16" MacBook Pro you bought here is superior to the Mac mini you bought here in nearly every possible way. Why the Mac mini?

I'm curious OP, what was your thinking behind going for 2 Macs instead of say a MBP + a USB-C dock to convert it into a desktop when needed? Are you planning on using the Mini maybe more as a server or 24/7 kind of machine?
