So how does in Store pickup work?

Hi,

So after having reached a decision about the right size, I want to get my hands on my own 11“ ipad…
Guy at the Apple store told me that of course they get fresh stock daily, and a woman on the sales hotline told me, yes that‘s true, and that the „November 30th“ date on the Webshop under „available for in store pickup“ is not reliable. In fact she said if I put an online order with in store pickup (nov 30th) selected, it might as well send me an email tomorrow, that the product is available at the store.

Now I‘m super confused, this seems shady
Did they tell me the truth actually? I mean I know about the daily stock refreshes in store but thought those were only for walk in customers, or is it actually how they told me, and that Nov 30 date on the website is just a precaution?

Not sure about how they handle it in Germany, but here in the States, when you place an order, if there’s current stock in your local store, you’ll have the option to pick up in store the same day (or next day, depending on what time you place your order). Then, Apple will email when your order is ready to pick up and you’re on your way.

I don’t think they hold the daily stock for walk-ins. If they have stock, you should be able to order and pick up that same day.

Yea well for other models that are in stock according to Istocknow it’s the same over here, i can chose pickup tomorrow. But the question is, how it works with items that are currently not available, but the website states that they’re only available for on store pickup in like three weeks.
I find it hard to believe, and I was told by two Apple reps that the product will most likely in fact be available much earlier, and now I’m wondering why the website is acting like this, and if anyone had this experience before that suddenly the order would show up a lot earlier.
