And then what will the MBPs be made out of?
I seriously doubt that the low end spectrum of apple laptops will ever be anything except plastic.
hmmmm... very good point, but im sure theyll find somthin better to make the pros out of, there is another light metal that is extremely strong, its a bit pricey but heck, theyll probabley use that on pros..
This is something I'd like to know. Apple seemed to start going thru an eco friendly 'no-plastic' phase, wot with the new imacs and ipods made of aluminium and glass.
I Don't think they will continue to use plastic with the macbooks, but then again, if they use aluminium for them, as you say, they will be too similar to the MBP's. One of my guesses is that they will use ipod nano style colours for the al macbooks, but don't hold me on that. In fact that sounds awful.
hmm.. then the new Macbooks will be made of hemp seed oil polymers.

I might wait a few more months until they release macbook Quad cores with blu-ray and an encasing made of recycled egg cartons

Well, I for one welcome the new all-glass macbook! Just don't drop it.

I could be wrong here, but I believe that PVC plastic is a component of the Macbook's current casing. If that's the case (pun?), then I think you can expect to see some type of redesign by the end of 2008. I'm not a chemist, so I could be way off here. Maybe it will be a PVC-free plastic casing just to screw with you. No one knows aside from Jobs. He did make a big, long deal about aluminum and glass when the iMac was refreshed, and anyone who watched it knows what I mean, so that supports my theory. But, that aluminum and glass speech could have just been fluff for Apple to come off as more environmentally friendly in response to some recent criticism. We shall see. In the meantime, I hope the OP enjoys all this guesswork.
