I've had 2 lockups, both associated with video play back/safari. Was concerned at first, but relaxed as it's not often or when I might lose work.

I've had mine since April 3 and used it a lot, hasn't locked up once, although a few apps have crashed (quit to home screen). Seems fairly stable so far, considering most of the apps haven't been tested on the actual device yet.

Never had any crashes or lockups while in use. However the other day I woke up after having it charge overnight and it wouldn't turn on, had to hold both buttons to force a restart. Seems back to normal but hopefully that wont happen too often.

A little help if you all please. I was playing with my wife's iPad using Air video today, and on 5 occasions (different videos) it locked up. Locked up so bad, a hard reset was necessary.

When it freezes the movie skips real fast twice, then stops screen. Following the freeze, the screen flashes some small blue dots in about 12 areas about the size of a pencil head.

Not at all sounding normal to me.

I am on an Airport Extreme dual band. I have the router set to N 5gz, as well as N,G,B 2.4 ghz.

My wife said it also did it to her on ABC app yesterday twice.

Your guesses if this is software/router/ or hardware. It's 3 days old so I am wondering if it needs replacing, or is this going around?

Thanks in advance.

This unit is going back. It cannot be right, keeps freezing on multiple streaming video sites.

Must be a bum unit.

Maybe, although you might try a full wipe and reset before sending the hardware back. Could be a corrupted OS or app.

Mine has never frozen or shut down, but it does seem to stall on photos when using the picture frame app. No biggie. I just tap the screen twice and it moves on for a few more pics and then it seems OK for a bit.

Annoying, but not anything huge.

I've had it since launch and it locked up this evening for the first time. I was in Safari, as now, and brought up the keyboard, as now, and it locked as soon as I tapped the first key (the key remained highlighted and that was that).

Pressing the Home Button had no effect.
Had to Home Button + Power Button to recover.

Related, how many crash reports has iTunes reported while syncing? I've seen them pretty much every synch and dutifully press the "send to Apple" button ( or whatever it's labelled) in hopes we see an update with fixes soon.

But, all in all, this is a surprisingly stable gadget.

Swapped it out...

Went to the genius, they claimed it was a hardware issue (actually brought it in with the freeze right on it, so they could see it).

They brought out a brown box saying it was a replacement unit w/o the packaging. No worries he claimed it was a new unit.

Giving it another test run now.

Not so funny, my wife is watching The Lovely Bones on air video, and the Wifi Connection dropped, freezing it. (But not the hard freeze this time) I reconnected on the 5Ghz channel in my house.

Could be a strike 2; but I really hope not.

*keeps fingers crossed
