So how often do new apps come out?

I checked first thing this morning. Clicked on all iPhone apps, then went to sort by date. Only a handful of new ones. Do they come online periodically throughout the day, or just once every morning? Seems like if its the the second one, well be waiting a while for all the 1000's of apps to show up..

The release dates are not accurate... but seem inconsistent (i.e. some are accurate but most are not). Might have more to do with when the app was submitted than when it became available for sale.

Unless I'm mistaken, there have been new apps every morning (except Sundays) since launch day. Of course there may be some new ones with EARLY release dates, in which case they'd be harder to find...

New releases usually start appearing later in the evening (on the east coast) during the week. Then early in the AM, some are released for the next day as well. No new apps are released on Saturday (except for a few released late friday night/early saturday AM) or Sunday.

This is correct.

Apple's seems to have messed up application release dates.

There are new applications which are pushed to the back due to the release date being incorrect.

I've also noticed whenever an existing application pushes an update to the store, it is considered as 'new' and has a recent release date attached to it, once again, which is fine for the developer wanting people to see the latest version of the app, but kinda sucks for the developers trying to get their apps onto the store, and when you search by 'release date' they are concealed within pages of existing applications, which now have new updates -_-.

Yeah, I'm not sure I like this practice. On the one hand, it's good to see what apps are updated -- because there are times when you might not want to buy an app yet because it's missing a certain feature in the beginning, but then a later update includes that feature.

On the other hand, I can see developers abusing this -- and updating their apps whenever possible with minor, not very useful changes, just to have their apps show up near the top of new releases all the time.

Perhaps there should be a separate listing for updated apps only? (not just ones you've already downloaded, but ALL updated apps).
