So, how soon will the 16 gb iphone for $599 be released

not till this time next year. I just got back from my apple store and they were kind enough to refund me the 100 that i paid since they price dropped the 8gig phone. great service. but look for a new iphone with larger space this time next year. this is what all my sources are saying from the inside.

I'm guessing a good bit sooner than that. 16GB a year from now won't really hold water.... My guess would be that the next version would be between 16 and 30GB and be available sometime closer to april. But i'm just shooting from the hip here....
 
By October, and it will be 499. I would even bet before Spt is over. They proved they can do it- and for that price- with the Touch.
 
Engadget thinks we'll see it on the 25th!


And it will have 3G....not a big deal for me.....not as big as the 200 price drop of the 8GB model.
 
I imagine we will get iPhone news soon.

UK, France and German versions to be out by Christmas is my bet going by the reported news.
 
Its so close I can smell it. It's very unlike Apple to have a consumer iPod product with only one capacity, and being that they'll be using the flash chip for the touch AND lowered the 8GB price... its only the next logical step (i'm actually surprised they didn't include it in the announcement today)

And for those of you thinking it won't be till next year... by the trend of things will have 20gb iphones by then... at least
 
You won't see a $599 16GB iPhone. With the 8GB selling at $399 the most they would charge for the 16GB is $499.

I think Apple realized $599 for a phone was only viable for a few months and only to true fans. The phone industry is a complex thing and Apple will adjust accordngly.
 
I think you'll see it by the holiday season. Not sure about 3G as some have stated, but definatly a 16GB model by the holidays.
 
I think it will be between January and March and will cost $499.

It will be very difficult to change prices now, without affecting the whole iPod line. Any price change to the iPhone will also have to be reflected with the iPod Touch. If the iPod Touch price is changed, the other iPods will probaby need to seem some price change as well.

I plan on waiting for the 16gig iPhone before I buy one, and if I'm luck they will cost $399 at release.

Nope, they won't do that until MacWorld January. With all these new product announcements lately and 10.5 coming in October. They have to leave something for them to announce in January at MacWorld.
 
According to the Royal Bank of Scotland (who right now seem to be batting 1000) there will be price drops and 16Gig units this year. At Macworld entirely new phones will be announced with 32Gig and possibly 3G.
 
Hone your eyes on MW Paris at the end of the month. Great time to announce the Euro iPhone. That phone WILL be 3G and I'm guessing Apple is not going to have a lesser model in the U.S.

Apple cuts prices for ONE reason and only ONE reason...to clear out inventory and make way for new models. That is why you saw the price cut yesterday. The new models will be 8G and 16GB and will be priced at $399 and $499. Watch and see.
 
Yah, UK/Europe will get first hands on it. I don't see why not, the odds are pro-us.
Although am I bollocks paying £400+ for it, UK sucks for technology, paying 2x the original amount.

Agree that it will be $499 instead of $599.

As for the timeframe. Probably before the holidays in the late October to early November timeframe. Otherwise, it will be around MWSF.
