What's the procedure to go from JB 3.0 to any JB 3.XX?

I'm running a JB 2.2, and never upgraded to 2.21 because I feared that you have to do the full Pwnage tool restore for each incremental update. It takes a couple of hours to restore all your music, photos, apps, and Cydia apps...

Here's how I always saw it:

Clean iPhone
JB
New update comes out
Have to create a new IPSW with Pwnage tool
Shift-Restore with custom IPSW
iPhone is JB with update, but you have to sync everything again

Is that true?

Oh, so everything sits on your partition when you update, you JB again using redsn0w, and then you have access to everything again? Man, I should have gone to 2.21 a long time ago! So, does that work for going to any update (example: from 2.2 to 3.0)? Or does that method have to be within each number (2.xx>2.xy)? Thanks.

All your jailbreak stuff will be gone. You want to "back up" stuff by using something similar to aptbackup.
