I just bought my first imac on the 30th August and now they have just released a new one. Which i really want. Is there anything I can do, like trade it in at the apple shop? or ask if they'll swap it at a cost?

Regards, James

I would wait for the octo core 32" iMac in January. How must all the people who bought an iMac this Christmas feel then? ;)

Did your computer magically become slower on tuesday? Are you less happy with it since tuesday?

If so, you probably have GADGET FEVER and should rush to the pharmacy at once, to purchase our one-of-a-kind snake oil treatment Gadgex(tm)!

Ignore all of the ignorant posts.

In short you can't swap it at the Apple store. What you can do is sell your iMac and buy a newer model. Your Mac isn't that bad though. You can never be up to date with technology. :)

^ It would have suggested that there were possibly new models coming in October, at least according to buyer's guides. But August? Really? That's nearly 2 months ago. The machine still works, no?

Good advice, but what precisely would that research have yeilded back in late August 2009?

That the "current" machine was at the end of its life cycle and wait 2 months.

Never buy a computer when its more than half through its cycle if you can wait.

Your iMac isn't bad at all. Selling it at cost only creates this game of constantly losing money and temporary satisfaction.

That new machines, whilst not just round the corner, would be coming out in the fall. If that was too long to wait, OP could've bought then and be happy. There was explicit info at the very start October of a refresh and I'm pretty sure the first magic mouse rumors/updated iMac rumors were around before that.
