So I can't forward googlemail to iCloud mail?

Hi,

In an effort to rid myself of using my old googlemail account as a main email account, I have tried to set up googlemail to forward emails to @me.com.

I sent a few test emails and none of them are pushed to my iCloud email account. I searched google and it appears Apple don't allow messages to be forwarded? (speculators say because it is a free service, why should they).

Is this true? There's no way to forward gmail to iCloud? Of course I have changed as many of my online account like amazon to @me.com, however Apple accounts by default use @googlemail.com and we know the battle about not being able to change that... (merging)

Any ideas?

No....that's not accurate. It works fine on my end.

Did you perhaps miss a step somewhere along the way? Should have added the address, gotten an e-mail at the new address with the verification code, entered the verification code, made sure the forwarding was turned on and hit submit.

Try that again and see if that works. There is definitely not some sort of server side limitation with either party that would stop this from working.

Did you go to gmail.com and at this page add the forwarding address like in my screen shot? That is all I did and I get forwarded GMail messages as push emails in my iCloud mail.

Just checked googlemail again and it was still on "disabled". I have now selected "enable" and it works perfectly

Just out of interest, do you delete gmail's copy of the email so that you don't have an email on iCloud and gmail?

Also, as forwarding is now working, can I just remove my Gmail account from my Mac/iPhone? I don't get many emails to Gmail anyway but the ones I do get are important.

I'm not sure what the issue is with your settings but I've been using that exact same setup scenario for months now, so we can at least confirm it should work.

I have GMail set to archive the forwarded messages, so I can go back and dig them up if I need to.

If forwarding is working, yes you can just delete the accounts from your devices.

If you have archive, does it save them all in Gmail (like in googlemail.com) in a "archive" folder or as unread inbox messages?

(I currently have 'delete' instead of Archives on my Mac/iPhone)

If at gmail.com you set it to archive (like in my screen grab) it will not show in the gmail.com inbox. It will show under "All Mail" and show as unread.

Yes, I had almost the same problem. I have resent 5 important emails from my att.net account. None of them were in me.com inbox, one was found in spam box.
