So I got my iPad...

On Saturday I got my iPad. I'm in the UK so one of a few to have one. I was pretty excited about getting one since it was announced and couldn't wait so got one off eBay.

Having not seen or touched one before getting mine I obviously didn't know what to expect. I have an iPhone 3GS and a MacBook Pro. So thought I wouldn't be disappointed at all.

But... I have been using it since Saturday and I'm not entirely convinced by it. Don't get my wrong it's a lovely device and I like using it. But i just feel that I don't need it and not particularly wanting it.

I don't hate it but I didn't exactly fall in love with it like I thought I would. Everyone I show it too seems to think it's amazing. Am I missing something?

I'm half tempted to just to sell it

Anyone else feel the same?
 
Nobody NEEDS it...it is just a more compact way of doing things that you would normally do on a bulky laptop or a desktop.
 
Everything depends on each persons needs. I am a road salesman and it will be perfect for me so that I can keep my 1200 customers and calendar straight. Also maps for driving will look nice on a big screen.

Welcome and congrats on the iPad. The iPad has been great for me. As a photographer I am able to show my clients my portfolio and actually have them sign my contract on the iPad. Its cool to have and fast but I dont think its for everyone. If you do decide to sell it. Sell it quick before the UK gets it officially. Good luck mate.

You're going through somekind of iPhone and MBP withdrawal. Just keep using your iPad for a few more days (surfing the internet at night, in bed especially), and go from there.

Are you even able to download apps? If not then, you're missing out.
 
If I had a MBP and an iPhone not sure I'd find a huge need for the iPad. However, for me I enjoy being able to use it when I travel for work where I am required to carry a windows laptop that is basically locked down.

Enjoy your iPad and if you don't you have 14 days to return it.
 
I didn't even think about that...he probably doesn't have access to the app store yet. No wonder he doesn't like it!

He is in the UK and bought it on ebay, so his only choice is reselling it.
 
I have made a US account and downloaded a few apps. I did think this might a reason. I have nearly 100 apps on my iPhone and that's what makes the phone. I don't really want to start buying loads of US apps and end up messing around with 2 accounts all the time when the UK store becomes available in a few weeks.

Maybe I need to get a few more apps before making the final decision.
 
If I had an iPhone and Macbook Pro, I probably wouldn't buy the iPad. I don't have either, just an iMac, which means I have no portability at this point, which is what I'm looking for.

I guess it also depends on what you use your Macbook Pro for. If its just surfing the web, pictures, light work, etc., then you may want to consider exchanging it out for the iPad, as it seems to be a little redundant to have both if you are more of a consumer than creator.

I'm in the same boat. I take my MBP with me when I travel in addition to my locked down, bulky HP. That thing gets heavy and I don't even use it for anything more than browsing and iTunes. I'm strongly considering selling the MBP. I'll probably wait to see what 4.0 brings to the table and I'd love to be able to tether. If I can't tether, there's no point.

There's a bunch of iPad Apps in the UK Store already. Not everything is available but there is a decent selection. Sadly enough I've already downloaded a few despite the fact that I'm not planning to get an iPad until the official launch.
 
Looks like you could have waited to get one in the UK. OR, checked the many videos that are out about the product. Nothing is wrong with you for not liking something that thousands of others like.

Remember that next time you get ready to lay down cash for something.
